Privacy policy

This policy explains how Vauberry Chippery Digital Ltd ("we", "us") handles personal data collected through vauberrychippery.casa. We are the data controller for that data. Our registered address is Second Floor, Meridian Foundry, 18 Coldwater Street, Ancoats, Manchester M4 5JT, United Kingdom, and our privacy contact is [email protected].

What we collect

We collect only the information needed to run an editorial website and answer messages sent to us.

  • Contact form and email. When you write to us we receive your name, your email address, the subject you selected and the content of your message. We use these to reply to you and, where you have reported a correction, to update the guides.
  • Server logs. Our hosting provider records technical information about each request, including the IP address, the browser and operating system reported by your device, the page requested, the referring page and the time of the request. This is used to keep the site secure and available and to diagnose faults.
  • Browser storage. The cookie banner stores your consent choice in your browser's local storage so that it is not asked again. The cookie policy describes this in detail.

We do not collect payment details, we do not run user accounts, and we do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has sent us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

Lawful bases

Under UK GDPR we rely on the following bases. Replying to your enquiry is processing necessary for the steps you have asked us to take before any agreement, and for our legitimate interest in running a responsive publication. Server logging and security measures rest on our legitimate interest in keeping the site secure and functioning. Any non-essential cookies or similar technologies are set only with your consent, which you can withdraw at any time through the banner or your browser settings.

Processors and sharing

We use a small number of service providers who process data on our behalf: the company that hosts the site and stores its server logs, and the provider of our email service. Each acts under a written contract that restricts them to processing data on our instructions and requires appropriate security. We do not sell personal data and we do not share it with advertisers. We will disclose data where the law requires it, for example in response to a valid legal order.

International transfers

Our providers may store or process data outside the United Kingdom. Where that happens we rely on the safeguards recognised under UK data protection law, such as adequacy regulations or the International Data Transfer Agreement, so that your data receives equivalent protection.

Retention

Contact messages are kept for as long as needed to deal with the enquiry and for a short period afterwards in case of follow-up, after which they are deleted. Messages that led to a correction may be kept in summarised form as part of our editorial record without your personal details. Server logs are kept for a limited period for security purposes and then automatically deleted or anonymised. Your consent choice remains in your browser until you clear it or change it.

Your rights

Under the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018 you have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, to have inaccurate data corrected, to have data erased where there is no continuing reason to keep it, to restrict or object to processing, and to data portability where it applies. Where processing is based on consent you may withdraw that consent at any time. To exercise any right, email [email protected]. We will respond within the period the law allows and may ask you to confirm your identity first.

If you are not satisfied with our response you may complain to the Information Commissioner's Office, the UK supervisory authority, at ico.org.uk.

Visitors in the EEA and California

If you visit from the European Economic Area, the EU GDPR grants you equivalent rights to those set out above, and you may also complain to the supervisory authority in your own country. If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act gives you rights to know what personal information we hold, to request its deletion, and not to be discriminated against for exercising those rights. We do not sell personal information as that term is defined in the Act. Requests under either regime can be made through the same contact email.

Security

The site is served over an encrypted connection, access to the mailbox and hosting account is restricted and protected by strong authentication, and we keep the software we rely on up to date. No online service can guarantee absolute security, but we take reasonable steps proportionate to the small amount of data involved.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when our practices or the law change. The version published on this page is the one in force. Material changes will be flagged on the home page for a period after they take effect.
