Cookie policy
This policy explains how vauberrychippery.casa uses cookies and similar technologies such as browser local storage, what each one does, and how you can control them. It should be read alongside the privacy policy. The site is published by Vauberry Chippery Digital Ltd, Second Floor, Meridian Foundry, 18 Coldwater Street, Ancoats, Manchester M4 5JT, United Kingdom.
What cookies and local storage are
A cookie is a small text file that a website asks your browser to keep and send back on later visits. Local storage is a similar mechanism that keeps a value in your browser without sending it to the server on every request. Both can be used to remember settings, to keep you signed in, or to measure how a site is used. The rules that apply to them in the United Kingdom are set out in the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations, which require consent for anything that is not strictly necessary to provide the service you have asked for.
How the banner works
When you first visit, a banner offers three choices. Accept All allows every category listed below. Reject Non-Essential allows only the essential category. Preferences opens a panel in which you can switch the functional and analytics categories on or off individually and save your selection. Your choice is stored in local storage under the key shown in the table so that the banner does not reappear on every page. You can change your mind at any time by clearing the site's storage in your browser, after which the banner will show again.
The categories we use
| Category | Name | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| Essential | vc-cookie-consent (local storage) | Records the choice you made in the cookie banner so it is not asked again and so that non-essential categories stay off if you declined them. | Until you clear your browser storage or change your choice |
| Essential | Hosting security cookies | Our hosting provider may set short-lived cookies to protect the site against abusive traffic and to route requests. These carry no personal profile and cannot be switched off without breaking the site. | Session, or as set by the hosting provider |
| Functional | Display preferences | Set only if you allow this category. Used to remember non-essential presentation choices you make on the site so they persist between visits. | Until you clear your browser storage |
| Analytics | Measurement cookies | Set only if you allow this category. Used to understand which guides are read and how visitors move through the site, so that we can improve them. Any tool used here is named in this table before it is switched on. | As stated for the named tool |
We do not use advertising cookies, and no third party is permitted to set cookies on this site for the purpose of tracking you across other websites.
Controlling cookies in your browser
Every mainstream browser lets you view, block and delete cookies and local storage, either for all sites or for individual ones. The setting is usually found under privacy or site settings. In Chrome and Edge, look for the cookies and site data controls within privacy and security settings. In Firefox, the relevant controls are under privacy and security, where you can also enable enhanced tracking protection. In Safari, cookie controls are within the privacy pane of the preferences, and on iOS under the Safari section of the device settings. Blocking essential storage will cause the banner to reappear on each page and may affect other features; blocking everything else will not stop the site working.
Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control
Some browsers can send a signal indicating that you do not wish to be tracked. Because the site sets non-essential cookies only after you have actively allowed them, such a signal makes no practical difference here: nothing in the functional or analytics categories runs without your choice in the banner.
Changes to this policy
If we add, remove or change any cookie or storage item, this page will be updated before the change takes effect, and the table above is the authoritative list of what the site sets. Questions about cookies can be sent to [email protected].
